Province Migration
Most of the Atlantic provinces have been experiencing a decrease in migrants. In 2011/2012 Nova Scotia had a decrease of 2,845 migrants out of 390,085 people. Nova Scotia was 18.4% for the number of out-migrants. In 2004-05 Nova Scotia had a positive net increase, with 937 exits and 1,117 entrants.
Ethnic Population
In 2011 about 90.2% of people in Halifax spoke English as their mother tongue, 2.6% French and the other 6.2% as other languages. About 7.5% of Halifax's population are visible minorities, blacks accounted for about 48% of visible minorities, and nine in 10 blacks were Canadian born in Halifax. Arabs accounted for 1% and Chinese and South Asian accounted for 1.8%. Over one-third of Halifax's population was of Canadian origin, and English, French, Scottish and Irish were some of the majority of ethnic origins reported.
Future Migration
I think that in the future there will definitely be a lot more immigrants coming to Halifax, I think this because there is already a really good amount of different ethnic origins, and considering 48% of the visible minority population is black, there will not be much white on black or black on white violence as there is in other parts of the world.
