Tertiary industries are the major economic industries for Halifax. Halifax contains a lot of government services and private sector companies and is a banking, business, cultural and government center for the Maritime region. There is a total number of 212,935 people in the labour force. The main industries they have are in retail trades, public administration and healthcare and social assistance. In retail trade there are about 35280 people in the labour force, in healthcare and social assistance there are about 38300 people in the labour force and in public administration there are about 62850 in the labour force. This makes Halifax a tertiary based industry economy, so there is not much farming but rather more manufacturing and services. Halifax exports beers, such as Keith's Brewery or Oland Brewery, they also have an aerospace industry that has been improving their economy, these manufacturers are Pratt and Whitney Canada, and IMP Aerospace.

Halifax has a major tertiary industry, and with it's economy rising because of the retail, public administration and primary industries, they have a number of agricultural workers at 6885 people, mostly in fishing, mining, and natural gas extraction. Halifax also lives close to bodies of water making transportation easy. I believe that the economy is sustainable because they are using their primary industries efficiently and are primarily a tertiary based economy. Halifax has a really sustainable tertiary industry, because of government services and retail trades, Halifax could improve their economy by expanding their quaternary industries, even though it is already expanding because of the aerospace industry, they can also over fish by killing fish before they can lay eggs.
