Brief History
Halifax was found by the Mi'kmaq people and Acadians. It was then settled by the British in 1749 as the Halifax peninsula. The British set up Citadel Hill, Bedford, Lawrence Town and Dartmouth to defend against the French, Mi'kmaq and Acadians attacking them in the Father Le Loutre's War. After the war of 1812 Halifax struggled in their economy for a few years but regained their footing after a decade by successful merchant classes. Halifax, Nova Scotia was amalgamated in 1996 which created its borders that it has now.
